The II Chess Researchers International Meeting , organized by the Federal Institute of Paraná (IFPR) Campus Paranaguá, aims to promote the dissemination of scientific researches about the game of chess.



1. Identify and disseminate activities related to extension, teaching, research and innovation in the use of chess as an educational, pedagogical or therapeutic instrument;

2. Recognize the efforts and promote initiatives of all those involved in chess research;

3. To stimulate the exchange of experiences between chess researchers in Brazil and in the world;

4. To stablish a place for reflection, evaluation, integration and elaboration of new research, extension and innovation proposals with the use of chess.

Fernand Gobet is a chess International Master, cognitive scientist and cognitive psychologist, currently professor of cognitive psychology at the London School of Economics. His research interests focus on the study of cognition, especially in the areas of cognitive architecture, perception, intuition, problem solving, learning and decision making. He developed the cognitive architecture CHREST, an acronym for Chunk Hierarchy and REtrieval STructures, which is a complete architecture for the processes of learning and perception used by humans. He was co-editor of the Swiss Chess Review from 1981 to 1989.
Smbat Lputian is a  chess Grand Master. Four times winner of the Armenian championship (1978, 1980, 1998 and 2001). Gold team medal  at the 2006 Chess Olympiad. President of the Armenian Chess Scientific Research Institute and also chairman of the FIDE Chess in Education Commission.
Vahan Sargsyan has a PhD in psychology and Head of Research Projects at Chess Scientific Research Institute of Armenia.
Carlos Maury Escalante is Professor at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences UPC, produces, directs and directs the program “Life is a game of chess”. Professor and speaker from 10 countries at passline.com. Representative of the Kasparov Foundation in Peru, President of the Chess Commission of the Peruvian School Sports Association, representative of the International School Sports Federation. Ambassador of the European institution Club Magic Extremadura. Representative of the Russian Chess School CONVEKTA.
Uvencio Blanco Hernández holds a PhD in Doctor of “Ciencias de la Cultura Física” at the Universidad de Ciencias de la Cultura Física and Deportes “Manuel Fajardo” (La Habana, 2010). Professor of Biology and General Science at the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas (Caracas, 1981). FIDE organizer (Estambul, 2000). International Referee FIDE (Elista, 1998). Chess teacher in Edarays, (Mexico, 1991). ECU chess teacher (Batumi, 2018).


Claudio Sato is General Coordinator of Object Range Analysis, Special Sports Secretariat in Brasília-DF (Ministry of Citizenship). Organizer and national leader of the chess and intellectual sports modality.



Claudia Amura Head of the Chess Program of La Punta University, was the first Ibero-American Grand Master, taking the 12th place in the FIDE women’s ranking. He won the Argentine Women’s Championship five times (1985, 1987, 1988, 1989 and 2014). Amura played in the Olympics eight times (1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1998, 2008, 2010 and 2014). In Novi Sad 1990 she won the silver medal on the first board. He won the Pan American Championship in 1997 and five South American championships.
